The Junior Women sponsor two fund-raisers during the year to finance all our other projects. These are our most labor-intensive undertakings. Everyone helps out and we have a lot of fun.
AMERICAN ACCENTS: A FESTIVAL OF FINE ARTS AND CRAFTS Held the second Saturday in August, the Accents show brings 120 exhibitors together along the Rubicon River. Food and entertainment are provided.
THE GREAT HARTFORD CRAFT EXPOSITION Held the second Saturday in November, the Hartford Craft Expo brings 120 exhibitors together at the Hartford Union High School. Entertainment is provided as well as a Pancake breakfast sponsored by The Hartford Lions Club.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
FILE OF LIFE - In our newest project, the Hartford Women's Club has undertaken bringing the FILE OF LIFE to Hartford. Endorsed by both the Hartford Police Department and the Hartford Fire & Rescue Squad, the FILE OF LIFE card enables medics responding to an emergency to obtain a quick medical history when the patient is unable to offer one. SCHOLARSHIPS - A $750 scholarship is provided for a graduate of Hartford Union High School who has completed at least one year of college or tech school.
A $750 scholarship is provided for an adult woman with children at home.
FBLA - Our club is the community partner for the Future Business Leaders of America at Hartford Union High School. We sponsor an annual scholarship.
RED CROSS EMERGENCY FUND - We finance the purchase of clothing or other items for families who come to the Hartford Red Cross with immediate needs.
SCHAUER ARTS AND ACTIVITIES CENTER - Since the Schauer Center opened its doors, Hartford Women's Club has sponsored many of its fine performances, such as last season's "Men on Ice". Members have volunteered at numerous events, including the "Taste of the Arts" fund raising evening.
THE 1022 CLUB: HARTFORD'S ADULT DAY CARE CENTER - The club made a significant pledge to this wonderful program at the beginning of its fund raising venture.
HARTFORD UNION HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAMS - We donate major prizes to Post Prom and Project Graduation, the High School’s all-night lock-in parties. We have also underwritten various other programs, including sponsoring students to attend Badger Girls’ State Conferences, awards for athletic teams, and special equipment for classrooms.
HARTFORD CHRISTMAS COMMITTEE - Funds and gifts are donated to the Hartford Christmas Committee each year. Gifts are given to needy families in the community.
BEA VINCENT - We contribute funds to Bea Vincent. A local philanthropist, Bea sews hundreds of clothing items and donates them to children in need. As her project has become known, other women in the area have joined forces with her in this outreach program.
Every year the Hartford Women's Club considers new and exciting projects and programs to support.
